Earth Day Event Held in Brooklyn Tennis Center

A Tennis center in Brooklyn is swinging its focus on helping the planet in honor of Earth Day.

Court 16 in Gowanus celebrated by providing eco-friendly activities Sunday.

Kids got to color and make cardboard bracelets.

Parents were asked to bring their old cell phones so they could be re-recycled.

Of course the event included tennis and everyone attending got to play for free.

Like its sister location in Gowanus, this indoor tennis facility in LIC offers child-sized courts, all built with a special cushioned surface that's easy on growing joints. Group tennis, private sessions and tennis conditioning classes are offered for kids ages three to 11 (they're broken into groups and taught specifically to their age levels). You can even schedule a free trial! They also offer Friday night movies where kids can hit some balls, eat pizza and watch a flick, and special family weekends.
